walking through giudecca - looking at venice
during my stay in venice, there were several surreal moments and encounters.
most of these moments were somehow linked to the biennale:
there was this absolutely surreal moment on saturday morning at arsenale, when i was bumping into a colleague who i knew from back home [isn't it always surreal to meet people outside the usual radius of action?].
another chance encounter with a swedish artist, who i met at the biennale. turned out, that both of us stayed at the same hostel. we spent a rememberable evening at the hotel bar together. over wine we had a great conversation; this girl is extremely inspiring.
last but not least: the biennale itself was an absolute highlight. in fact: i felt drunk of stimulus satiation when watching that massive amount of absolutely exciting exhibits [and i didn't see even all of it]!
besides biennale there were some more excellent moments:
drinking coffee in a bar close to giardini short time after closing the gates of biennale - watching all the people leaving the area.
watching those massive, huge cruise liners leaving venice at night was bizarre! those ships - twice as high as the architecture of the island - made the buildings look like tiny dollhouses

*) some time ago, i was listening to this interview, and it did impress & inspire me a lot.
[some of the themes which are discussed in the interview precisely deal with topics about which i was thinking a lot lately.]
i ended up listening to it over and over again [seems like, i really wanted to absorb it].
finally, i decided to typewrite it.
[unfortunately, it turned out, that it sounded much better on the radio, as the written text makes the phrases sound a bit bumpy. still - the message stays the same. ]

VIENNA
*) it was a hot weekend in the city, and i was roaming through the parks, searching for shadow.
i was passing by the museum, when i decided, that i needed something that interests the eye.
turned out, that this was, indeed, a great idea, because i was stumbling into an exciting happening.
GELATIN was just about to create and set up their new exhibition, which basically happened via a performance: sculptures, which where later shown at the exhibition, where peeled out of a massive block of styrofoam.

glad about stumbling into it.
